Omicron’s Response Update

As we focus on the year ahead, we are once again faced with the dynamic landscape and challenges presented by the ongoing pandemic. It is no surprise that the supply chain, access to reliable labour capital, municipality processes, impending inflation, market corrections, and the ability for in-person collaboration and assembly continues to be impacted. There will be disruption and ongoing headwinds well into 2022.

We have learned a great deal over the past year and a half with respect to best practices in navigating the pandemic across many industries. Even with the most committed safety plans, communication solutions, financial risk management, procurement networks, and mitigation strategies, there is significant risk that remains. The health and wellbeing of our collective community is of upmost importance as we continue to navigate through the pandemic.

In recent weeks, our collective jobsites inclusive of trade labour have experienced a 20-25% absentee rate due to Covid-19 reporting and quarantine restrictions. Suppliers and manufacturing continue to report shortages for labour to produce goods, provide customer service, and ultimately deliver on shipping commitments. With financial markets correcting, monitoring the financial health of our trade community is also paramount.

We are taking this opportunity to reinforce our vigilance with respect to the commitments which we have made to you, our clients, and stakeholders, in forecasting, planning, executing, and communicating in real time when such disturbances such as these specifically arise across our projects and industry.

Our offices will continue to remain open and operational within BC Government regulations. Project sites will continue to exercise best practice in infection prevention and control. Our integrated design and construction teams are modifying and innovating workflows. Site construction teams are engaged daily with our trade and consultant partners to anticipate and mitigate potential supply chain disturbances, labour availability, municipal approvals, and utility impacts.

Our commitment is to be leaders in finding solutions, to be flexible, transparent, and creative, and to execute with the purposeful intention of mitigating overall project risk.  Should you wish to discuss the current environment and specific projects further, please do not hesitate to reach out to our senior leadership team to facilitate this discussion. Thank you for trusting in Omicron to navigate this journey with you.
