Helping our Community

As the pandemic affected people’s lives in significant ways, we felt the community needed our help. Through our clients St. Aidan’s Presbyterian Church, Knox Presbyterian Church and Gordon Presbyterian Church we were introduced to the Don’t Go Hungry program, which provides food support to those in need.

Through the course of the past year, our involvement included:

  • Every Saturday we provide volunteers to the Gordon site, which supplies groceries to an average of 150 families every week, feeding ~450 family members.
  • In December, 2020 Omicron raised $3,000 to supplement the program with gift cards purchased from Buy-Low to help families in need while the sites were closed for holidays.
  • We helped build a community garden to grow food for the community. Our General Superintendent Don Fraser volunteered the tools to do that, while our labourer Sunanda Fernando was involved in building it.
  • Update: in November 2021, we raised $1,400 through our Wine Survivor campaign.
