Omicron – Best of 2019

2019 was an eventful year; from expanded leadership, to advancements in technology and exciting project awards, we’re proud of what we accomplished.

Leadership / People Updates

In July 2019, Karena Selnar expanded her leadership role and was appointed Director of Business Development for Omicron’s Commercial Interiors sector. In this role, Karena is responsible for the growth of Omicron’s business development operations, where she cultivates new business opportunities within existing markets and clients, as well as the acquisition of new clients.

Karena continues to lead the marketing and communications for the organization, including strategy development and implementation for project-based and corporate initiatives, financial management, and oversight of the marketing team.

Karena has been supporting Omicron’s collective business development efforts through her Marketing and Communications roles for the past 8 years.

Culture

Throughout 2019, Omicron supported multiple not-for-profit organizations through fundraising and hands-on participation.

  • Ronald McDonald House: Through the month of April, we were proud to be House Heroes. Close to half our staff visited the House to cook dinner, bake desserts, celebrate birthdays and host an Easter Egg Hunt. We returned to the House during Halloween for a spooky-themed dinner and brighten the days of the families going through challenging times.
  • Ride to Conquer Cancer: Omicron assembled a team this summer for the third year in a row. While our riders dedicated their time to train and fundraise, our office assisted in raising funds by hosting a bake sale filled with delicious cakes, cookies, and cupcakes.
  • The Boys & Girls Club of South Coast BC: This was the focus of our annual fundraising campaign. Over the span of one week, we surpassed our goal of $35,000 and raised a total of $35,516. In hosting a carnival-themed fundraiser, we held various games and activities to support the individuals that the Boys & Girls Club aids each day.

Technology

In 2019 we set the ground for our digital transformation by introducing new leadership, establishing goals and developing a long-term action plan. We focused on introducing technology in every aspect of our business, from integrated software to construction materials, and project delivery process.
