Omicron – Best of 2022

Looking back on 2022, we take great pride in our work and the project milestones we achieved. We also welcomed the ease of COVID restrictions and the feeling that we can breathe again, that we can return to the office to embrace our hybrid work model and celebrate with internal and community events. Below are some of the highlights of 2022:

Awards

Schou Education Centre front

  • Schou Education Centre, a project close to our hearts for its heritage focus, received a Recognition Award in the Conservation category from Heritage BC.
  • Omicron was named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the 13th year in a row, retaining our status as a Platinum Member.
  • In February 2022, Omicron received the VRCA Zero Frequency Injury Rate award. We have been the recipient of this award since 2013.
Project Highlights

PI Financial clock

  • PI Financial was completed in fall 2022, a beautiful project inspired by the concept of time and repetition.

Nanaimo Courtyard Marriott

  • Nanaimo Courtyard Marriott hotel was also finalized in 2022, a flagship project for Nexii, using their panels to deliver the exterior building envelope of a multi-level building.

  • Allandale District saw the completion of the first building, Seaspan for Victoria Shipyards on Lot A.

TELUS LIVING Sechelt

  • TELUS LIVING Sechelt‘s design is completed and is awaiting the building permit.

TELUS Marina

  • TELUS Marina is awaiting its development permit.

Global Container Terminals cafeteria

  • The last few days of 2022 also saw the completion of the new office of Global Container Terminals, a space based on the mandate of preserving the majority of existing walls and millwork.
  • We witnessed the ground breaking of Building 2 at Richmond Industrial Centre, the fourth building out of twelve to be developed on this 170-acre industrial estate.
Staff Accolades

2022 saw the recognition of some of our key senior leaders:

  • Alisa Bailey was recognized as an integral part of our business and promoted to Vice President, Industrial & Integration.
  • Because of his outstanding leadership, Michael Brimer was promoted to Executive Vice President.
  • As Teresa Paqueo has been increasingly taking a higher level of responsibility, she was promoted to Director, Electrical Engineering.
Community and Internal Events
  • 2022 did not pass without us being involved with multiple groups and organizations in our community, such as Ronald McDonald House and and Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Check out details of our community involvement in 2022.
  • Easing COVID restrictions and returning partially to the office provided ample opportunities for us to celebrate and have fun. Find out more about our office celebrations.
