Omicron – Best of 2023

2023 proved to be a remarkable year for Omicron, marked by the launch of new projects, reestablishing connections with both new and existing clients, dedicating numerous hours to giving back to the community, expanding our team with new members, and earning exciting project awards. Amidst these achievements, we were thrilled to celebrate Omicron’s 25th anniversary, a testament to a quarter-century of excellence in Architectural, Interiors, Engineering, Renewals, Construction, and Development services. With heartfelt gratitude, we eagerly anticipate the next 25 years, confident in our ability to shape the future of the built environment.

Best Managed

Omicron Canada Inc. maintained its Best Managed status for the 14th consecutive year, earning requalification as a 2023 Canada’s Best Managed Companies Platinum Club member. We are delighted to participate in this program, which acknowledges our ongoing dedication over the past 25 years to enhancing the experience for both our clients and our team.

Team Expansion

Summer Co-op Thank You

Throughout 2023, we welcomed 26 new team members and five student co-ops and interns from University of British Columbia, University of Victoria and BCIT.

Community

Over the last year, the Omicron team truly embodied what Being Involved means and dedicated their time to volunteer activities and events that drive positive change in our community.

Ronald McDonald House: Our team returned to the Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon to facilitate an Easter and a Halloween dinner. Omicronians were thrilled to return, and we deeply appreciate the House volunteers for always enhancing the experience of our family meals.

Best of 2023 - Wellness Month

Wellness Month: Omicronians were challenged throughout the month of May to stay active, informed, and create healthy habits during Wellness Month. The activities included a kick-off breakfast with proceeds going to Potluck Café Society, a registered charity supporting the well-being of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside residents, wellness walks, a lunch & learn hosted by HEAL – Healthy Eating and Living, lunchtime yoga sessions, and team fitness challenges. It was great to see our team coming together to prioritize their well-being, promote a healthy lifestyle, and support Workout to Conquer Cancer to fundraise for BC Cancer.

Best of 2023 - StepUp Challenge

StepUp Challenge: The Omicron team proudly stepped up for Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver’s Step-Up Challenge in October. Every step taken brought our team closer to supporting Habitat for Humanity’s largest build to date. We’re proud to have supported their mission of uniting communities to empower families with strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership.

Best of 2023 - WeCare

WeCare: Omicron Interior Design team participated in ‘WeCare’; an annual event organized by Contemporary Office Interiors. Ten interior design firms prepare crafts and meet at Frog’s Hollow Neighbourhood House with 250 kids from the community for a crafty gift-making afternoon. The idea is to provide children with an opportunity to create special gifts for their families or those they might not otherwise be able to give gifts to.

Sustainability

We’re proud to recognize our growing team of design, engineering and construction professionals who are in constant search of a Better Way to support environmental progress and take action to promote sustainable design and construction practices.

Our team completed programs and training to complement their credentials related to LEED AP BD+C, ID+C, One Click LCA Bootcamp and CAGBC certifications and memberships.

Omicron’s Sustainability Committee also kickstarted an initiative to reduce plastic waste by swapping single-serve creamers for recyclable cartons and educating the team on waste sorting. We believe in the power of getting involved to support a more sustainable future.
